RB003 Ultra
Ultra Hot
Base: Lime juice, lemon juice & vinegar
Pepper: RB003
Flavor profile: We took our RB003 sauce and doubled the peppers but kept the liquid volume the same. It is by far the hottest sauce we've ever made, but absolutely delicious.
There is an additional cost to using double the peppers, so this one is a bit pricier.
Ingredients: RB003 Pepper, Lime Juice, lemon juice, Vinegar, Water, garlic, salt, spices
Since all peppers are different, color and heat level may vary from batch to batch.
RB003 Ultra Hot Sauce Review:
Introduction: The RB003 pepper is a Carolina Reaper crossed with a 7 Pot Brainstrain. RB stands for the Australian grower Ross Barber. In early October I had the pleasure of trying a RB003 fresh pods. I had it on pizza and wrote,
“Just as hot as any pod I’ve ever had. Best flavor though I’ve had for anything as a potential world record holder! Only ones that can match this heat that I’ve had are CP115 and Primotalii. I put this above the Death Spiral, Chocolate Fatalii Jigsaw, BTR Scorpion, Chocolate Bhutlah, Moruga Scorpion, Butch T Scorpion, 7-Pot Primo’s, and many other super hots I’ve had. Definitely my new favorite superhot for sure. After having it for a second night I felt it may have been slightly hotter than the CP115 and Primotalii. The flavor is more fruity than floral but a real scorcher.”
This sauce I’m reviewing is the RB003 Ultra version that has 2x the pepper content of the original RB003 hot sauce. I never had their original RB003 sauce nor any sauce with RB003 in it. The truth is that you won’t find a sauce like this from any major hot sauce company because RB003 mash cannot be purchased in bulk. The pods can be purchased seasonally from growers in Facebook groups, but even then you aren’t going to get anything bigger than a MRFB most likely.
Label: The label is very basic and not loaded with work from state of the art graphic designers. You definitely get the feeling that this is a small batch sauce by looking at it. The Ultra version has 2x the pepper content compared to the original RB003 sauce. No preservatives and no additives exist in the sauce as stated on the label. The company makes it clear that they are a small batch company. 9/10
The label maybe could have a photo of a RB003 pod underneath “2x THE PEPPERS” to fill in the empty space on the label to have me given it a score of a 10/10.
Ingredients: RB003 Pepper, Lime Juice, Lemon juice, Vinegar, Water, Garlic, Salt, Spices. 10/10
For any superhot pod that is not mass produced these are the ingredients that you want to see in a sauce and nothing else. Anything else will make the sauce too complex and thwart a true taste profile from taking place.
Appearance: Vibrant and Fiery Red/Orange. There are appearances of garlic and/or small fragments of seeds. The consistency appears to be perfect not being to thin and not too thick. This is exactly what a true chilihead wants to see in a sauce in my opinion. 10/10
Odor: Amazing odor that is characteristic of superhot red pepper pods. Very fresh and can smell hints of the lemon and lime and garlic. This may just be one of the best natural pepper sauces I’ve ever encountered for a sauce that isn’t loaded with a variety of complex ingredients.
10/10
Taste: The sauce is amazing. The taste is similar to the pods I had in October. Beautiful red pepper flavor with a tone of citrus. The taste is similar to the odor.
Heat: A slow building heat for an experienced chilehead but it does come on fairly quick. Provides flavor first and then a rush of heat. You don’t get any hotter than this naturally. Anything hotter that is claimed to be natural isn’t. It likely has cap powder and I know since I’m sensitive to those sauces that have it and don’t label it. There are companies that go this route but not this one. After one slice of pizza I am sweating and my lips are burning. This is absolute perfection!
10/10
OVERALL: 10:/10 The sauce is a no brainer at 10/10. It’s my favorite natural sauce I think I have ever had and I been reviewing since 2006 before smart phones and YouTube! Back then there was only one hot sauce blog. What a product this is and can’t wait to try more of their sauces. I salute this company!
**I included photos of what the fresh RB003 pods look like that I had back in October 2024.
